Síle Denvir announces new album and shares new song Eileanóir a Rún

March 6, 2023

Síle Denvir, singer, musician and academic, a native of the Connemara Gaeltacht announces her upcoming album with her new song Eileanóir a Rún. This is the first track from Anamnesis which will be released on Friday, March 31st, 2023. Recorded and produced by John Reynolds (Damien Dempsey, Sinéad O’Connor, Pauline Scanlon), the track features Caroline Dale on Cello (London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra).

This contemporary take of the sean-nós song proffers Denvir’s superb vocals expertly. Cello harmonics and electronic soundscape suspend Denvir’s vocals in an otherworldly bed of emotive drones, bringing something new to the classically Irish song.

A starkly beautiful video shot in Connemara by Dónal Glackin accompanies the track. “I wanted something very meditative and connected with nature and place.” says Síle “and the untamed landscape of Connemara does not disappoint with its unspoiled beauty. It is the perfect accompaniment to this track. Compiling songs from an area is akin to capturing the history of that place and history is constructed with stories of the eternal human condition. Eileanóir a Rún is a story of love winning out in the face of adversity, a truly human experience. This is the first track from my upcoming album Anamnesis, a collaboration with John Reynolds and Caroline Dale, a project that I am immensely proud of and one that I am eager to get out into the world.”
