Hot Press: “An enormously compelling listen”
Mayo singer-songwriter Sarah Keane is about to release her new single, “One for the Team,” on June 13th. Known for music that transforms everyday experiences into thoughtful and relatable stories, Keane’s latest track takes a hard look at the complexities of her relationships, showing us behind the curtain,
“One for the Team” expresses that even with good intentions, relationships can be unsustainable, requiring difficult choices for the betterment of those involved. Keane explains, “There’s often this idea that if two people want to be together, they should do everything possible to make it work. Maybe that’s true for some, but it can also just make both of you sad! This song is about realising that sometimes it’s just not worth it, and someone should take ‘one for the team'”.
The song, a collaboration with Naosan Moore, was described by Keane as “one of those that wrote itself”. It was recorded and produced by Galway-based Dave Skelton (Aimee Carty) and mastered by Aidan Foley (Sinead O’Connor, U2).
Her debut album, “Something Bigger,” released in November, received national radio play and was featured on RTE Radio 1 Recommends and BBC. In 2024, Keane toured Ireland, including two headline shows, and a sold-out night in Dublin.

Her work often explores themes of friendship, family, love, and loss. Keane has supported notable Irish artists such as Aimee Carty, Jack L, Lisa Canny, Hothouse Flowers, Junior Brother, and CMAT, and has performed at venues including Cork Opera House and the Theatre Royal.
