The tour follows on from the release of the Waterford songwriter’s debut EP ‘This Record is a Nixer’ late last year.

Coming off the back of a bumper 2024, which saw him release his debut EP, sell out shows in Waterford and Dublin to celebrate, and earn support slots with the likes of Kingfishr and The Coronas’ Danny O’Reilly, Waterford’s Tadhg Williams has announced a tour of Ireland dubbed ‘This Tour is a Nixer’.
“This is the biggest tour I’ve done, and I’ve had a real itch to get out and play some gigs! I’ve put this all together myself with the help of friends and other artists I love and admire. Being able to connect with people, talk about their connections to the stories I’m telling, feels like a real privilege.”
Upon release, ‘This Record is a Nixer’ was hailed as a showcase of Williams’ honest lyricism and tender portrayal of its challenging subject matter. The title track, ‘Nixer’, noted Williams as “a luminary in the contemporary folk music landscape” by Pure M Magazine; while the history graduate’s wartime epic ‘Frank Edwards’ was noted by Hot Press Magazine as one of their Songs of the Year for 2024. This was amongst airplay across Ireland and the UK, notably receiving support from the BBC, RTÉ, Today FM, Radio Nova and various other local and regional stations.
- Tickets for Derry, Limerick and Kilkenny go on sale on Monday 28 April at 9am; while tickets can be bought on the door for Tadhg’s appearance at the Sunflower Folk Club in Belfast.
- Galway Folk Festival tickets are currently on sale.
- The Cottage Bar show in Letterkenny is a free show, but you have to buy Tadhg a pint.
