Peter Doran Releases Second Single ‘Blue Mountains’ feat ‘Haley Heynderickx’

March 26, 2021

Following his first release ‘Nothing New Under The Sun’, Peter Doran is back with his second offering ‘Blue Mountains’ featuring artist Haley Heynderickx. ‘Blue Mountains’ released today, 26th March 2021 and is taken from his upcoming album ‘Voices’, due for release 7th May 2021.

Supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture,  Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.

Peter Doran explains, “Everyone carries about an idea of Paradise. A dream-perfect world in which to live out their days. Blue Mountains is the tale of a clean living, God fearing man whose only wish is to leave the world behind and set up home forever with his sweetheart deep in the Blue Mountains. Where are his Blue Mountains? Our love-struck protagonist has never been there, couldn’t point them out on any map… but he’s been there in a song. It’s a story-book romance for him and it’s just enough to keep him keeping on.

When I was growing up, I had a musical mentor in an incredible local guitar player named Vinny Baker. He passed away suddenly in 2013 and a few years later his acoustic guitar came to me. Blue Mountains was the first song I wrote on that guitar. I believe it was waiting in the instrument. A gift from its former owner. I was joined by US Songwriter Haley Heynderickx on harmony vocals on this recording. We sang side by side, on the first day of recordings for my upcoming album ‘Voices’.”

Peter Doran is an independent Irish singer-songwriter and musician. ‘Voices’, the fifth studio album from the Mullingar native, was awarded a MISP grant to help fund its release.

Recorded and Co-produced by Hally at Arthouse Studios in Naas throughout 2019/20, ‘Voices’ features extensive contributions from multi-instrumentalist Lenny Cahill (Piano / Drums / Bass / Organ) and special guest vocals from US Songwriter Haley Heynderickx and Emmett Tinley (The Prayer Boat). String duties were shared by Dublin-based composer/arranger Mary Barnecutt and Peter’s long-term collaborator Gerard Toal.

‘Every Little Thing’ from his 2012 album ‘Overhead the Stars’ has been played over 1,300,000 times on Spotify and is the theme tune for the American podcast series “The Minimalists”.

In recent years Peter has headlined shows in Holland, Germany, England, Ireland, Belgium and New York and opened shows for Mick Flannery, The Lone Bellow, Declan O’Rourke, Fionn Regan and Duke Special.
