Irish-Dutch artist, Patrick Stefan, shares ‘Peggy, my dear’, the second single from his upcoming EP, IM.

‘Peggy, my dear’ is an ode to Stefan’s great-aunt, whom Patrick recorded stories from a year before she passed away. The song mirrors the experience of sitting with his aunt and attempting to record her account, alongside glimpses of Peggy’s life as she moved from her hometown in Botherbuí/Botherbue, Co. Cork, to London. Stefan’s new track is a love letter to a life lived and wisdom earned, admiration pours out of every note of ‘Peggy, my dear’.

The song starts with a traditional melody ‘The Clare Reel’ on concertina, which flickers in and out of the track like a memory. Paired with Stefan’s lamenting vocals, the track pulls you in from start to finish.

Patrick says:
‘Peggy was the sharpest minded 89-year-old you could find, at the time of recording her accounts of electricity coming to her town, the first banana she ever saw, and other gems like stories of people being protective of their butter. The name of the upcoming EP – ‘IM’ – comes from one of these tales. I wanted to write a simple and honest song that reflected Peggy’s wisdom, love of nature and of Irish culture.’

Having signed with Mahogany Songs, Stefan lit up Folk Alliance USA & Ireland Music Week in ‘24, Patrick performed in London & Brighton, at Showing Roots, Whelan’s Ones to Watch, and was Musician in Residence at St. John’s, Listowel.

Stefan’s 2024 single ‘You Are’ made the RTÉ Recommends Playlist. Now he’s cementing his place as a compelling live act, weaving folk & jazz with a gentle & effortless presence, with a new EP IM coming out in September 2026.
