Pastiche’s trilogy of stellar 2024 singles comes to a close with ‘Abandon The Planet’
DIY pop artist Pastiche released her vulnerable dance track ‘Abandon the Planet’ on Thursday, 24th October, 2024. This is her darkest and most honest single to date, but coated in a shimmering pop sheen that Pastiche wears like armour. ‘Abandon the Planet’ precedes Pastiche’s shows opening for Alice Glass on 10th November at the Grand Social (tickets here) and Eurovision’s Aiko on 17th November at The Academy (tickets here).
Pastiche says of the single: “‘Abandon The Planet’ is a culmination of my 2024 experience: dealing with my endometriosis diagnosis, freezing my eggs at 26, moving back to Ireland from London, feeling like a failure and trying to rebuild my music career trajectory after what feels like continuous blows. This song is my Thelma & Louise moment, my Sandy and Danny at the end of Grease when they randomly take off into the sky. It’s the thought that we’ve all had about leaving everything behind.”
Dublin-born Pastiche burst onto the Irish scene at the end of 2020, bringing her fresh pop sensibilities. Brazen, fiery and memorable, she is an artist to sit up and take notice of. She has been hailed as “Ireland’s fastest rising pop star” (Hot Press).
Pastiche’s first 2024 single ‘Forfeit Control’ reached no. 3 on the Irish Radio Breakers Chart and has amassed 7.5 million radio impacts to date. The song and Pastiche’s own story drew attention from the Irish Times Women’s Podcast, Catch Up with Louise McSharry, The Sunday Times, Nialler9, Real Hot Girl Podcast and many others. She followed up with the euphoric banger ‘Dizzy’, which boasts 3.3 million radio impacts in Ireland and was featured as Roz and Emma’s Track of the Week on RTÉ 2fm. ‘Dizzy’ was playlisted on RTÉ 2fm for 6 weeks running and has enjoyed airplay across the country on stations including Beat 102-103, Today FM, iRadio, Spin 103.8, Red FM, Radio Kerry, FM 104 and many more.
Showcasing online at the remote Ireland Music Week 2021, each single release from Pastiche’s debut EP Freak Show Symphony has garnered millions of radio impacts, hundreds of thousands of streams, tens of thousands of radio plays, as well as landing New Music Friday, New Pop UK and other massive Spotify editorial playlists. She has an impressive 500,000+ streams under her belt as a fully independent artist.
Pastiche sold out her 2021 debut headline show at Whelans in 72 hours and made her debut at Primavera Pro in 2022. She dazzled audiences at leading Irish music festivals Sea Sessions, Indiependence, SoFFt Nights and Dublin’s Pride Festival. In 2023 she was featured as a Keychange artist and played the massive stages at The 3Olympia, Collins Barracks and Iceland Airwaves.
