“Euphoric electronic production with a soulful heart that could sit beside Fred Again.. on a playlist. The difference is Olive’s music is more reflective and inward-looking….” (Nialler9)

“A snapshot of just how vulnerable electronic music can be….” (Hot Press)

Released in late, OLIVE HATAKE‘s second album built on the reputation he has been establishing across the year with tracks such as ‘CHROME BOYS’, PS4′ and ‘MEMORY LANE’ (featuring Jafaris). A record of rare depth and insight, it was supported by live shows at Other Voices Wales, Output Belfast, the National Gallery Of Ireland, his own headline at the Workman’s Club in Dublin and a riotous night at Other Voices in Dingle. This Friday will see him release BOYS NEED MORE LOVE, an expanded version featuring instrumental versions of the album’s vocal tracks alongside four new songs – including new single ‘THESE FEELS AGAIN’ featuring Haresquead’s Tony Konstone. He celebrates the release with a sold out pop at show at The Big Romance in Dublin on Thursday 12th.

OLIVE HATAKE on BOYS NEED LOVE:

“I’ve been reflecting and thinking so much lately.

Everything nowadays is designed to keep us disconnected from ourselves and other self. Men’s mental health is real and it’s the dark side of men’s existence and isn’t spoken about. BOYS NEED LOVE explores my journey on how I overcame depression and years of mental health and internal self torture that society played a huge role in creating. There’s a positive and negative in all aspects of this life and I’ve come to learn that there’s also a beauty within the depression and letting yourself experience and go through it. Some of the best art we make is when we use this dark energy for good. The pain is just as beautiful as the joy.

ALONG THIS JOURNEY EVEN LOSING A BEST FRIEND REALLY TOOK THE PROJECT DOWN SUCH TURNS AND TWISTS.

It is through that all other values are possible.”
