RTS Ireland has announced nominations in 10 categories for this year’s RTS Ireland Television Awards. Juries considered over 130 entries from across the industry.

Winners will be announced on the evening of Tuesday March 28th at a celebratory event in The Galmont Hotel, Galway City. A limited number of tickets for the event are available to purchase at https://rts.org.uk/civicrm/event/register?reset=1&id=815.

This will be a night to celebrate excellence in Irish Television over the last year. The event will be hosted by presenters Caitlín Nic Aoidh and Cormac Ó hEadhra. Special guests include Bláth na hÓige and Mick Flannery & Susan O’ Neill.

Speaking at the announcement of this year’s nominees, RTS Ireland Awards Chairperson Lís Ní Dhálaigh  said: “TG4 is delighted to host the RTS awards this year, and we look forward to welcoming producers and programme teams to Galway, a thriving hub for the screen industry in Ireland. The awards are supported by Irish broadcasters TG4, Virgin Media, Sky and RTÉ. The awards are kindly sponsored by Screen Ireland, BAI and Screen Producers Ireland. Category sponsors include Nemeton TV, Egg Post Production, Screenscene, Ardán, IMRO, Piranah Bar, Camerakit Ireland, Windmill Lane and TVM.”

Agnes Cogan, RTS Republic of Ireland Chair said that “the RTS was set up as an educational charity, to promote and enhance the learning and skills development associated with Television, educating people across all ages, cultures and capabilities: To engage the broader public in a wider understanding, relevance and enjoyment of Television: To promote and encourage the achievement of high standards of creativity and technology and the advancement of its associated art and culture. In pursuit of these aims, RTS ROI set up Gradaim RTS – this is just the third year of these awards, and it has already established itself as a significant part of the TV and Media calendar.”

About the RTS Ireland Awards:

Originally founded in London as the Television Society in 1927, the Irish centre was launched in 1995.

Gradaim RTS / RTS Ireland Television Awards seek to recognise Irish productions and international co-productions which are considered by peer jury members to have made a positive contribution worthy of acclaim by the industry and Irish viewers.

RTS Awards are one of the international gold standard awards for the TV industry and an important showcase of the extraordinary talent evident across the country’s television industry.
