Niall Toner & Andrea Booth release their new single ‘Money’.
Niall Toner has been a keen music fan since the early 60s. He has learned his trade the ‘hard’ way by listening to and absorbing vast numbers of songs and tunes by the very best in the business.
Everything from Hank Williams and Bill Monroe, to Gram Parsons and The Rolling Stones, and much in between have set the standard high.
This is reflected in the quality of his own writing and performing. Niall first began composing songs in the 70s, and since that time has recorded and released seven albums as well as numerous singles and music videos, made by Fiaz Farrelly which are all available on YouTube.
During the 70s, 80s and 90s, Niall also fronted many high profile bands like The Sackville String Band, Lee Valley String Band, Hank Halfhead and The Rambling Turkeys as well as his own Niall Toner Band.
Niall also presented ‘Roots Freeway’ and ‘Country Heartland’ on RTE Radio One for over twenty-eight years. After being “retired” from Radio One, Niall has been concentrating on his songwriting, and the one you are listening to right now is a fine example of his continuing efforts.
Around seven years ago, Niall was fortunate to meet Andrea Booth, a singer/songwriter and ukulele player who shared an interest in much of the same music. They began writing songs together just prior to the Covid outbreak.
Their first single, ‘Never Too Old for Love’, garnered much airplay on national radio, and their video for that song on YouTube has been viewed over ten thousand times. Andrea has also released a number of singles, including ‘Sand in My Shoes Blues’ and ‘Someone Else’s Paradise.’
Niall and Andrea continue to write and perform together, and have recently played the Bluegrass Festival in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, and the annual Harley-Davidson Bikefest in Killarney.
