Saint Nicholas’ Parochial School, Galway have joined folk musician Niall Teague to release a new festive classic ‘Christmas Time is Coming Soon’. The song was penned back in 2022 and was very much on the shelf until Niall’s daughter Louie, a 5th class pupil at Saint Nicholas’ Parochial School brought the lyrics to school in early November. She begged her dad to come into the school and do a recording and he couldn’t refuse.
This is not the first time Niall has attempted to write and record a Christmas hit, having previously won the 2019 Christmas FM song contest with ‘Santa Claus’ which also featured Saint Nicholas’ pupils while ‘Another Merry Christmas’ with Padraic Joyce which was featured as HotPress’ track of the week in December 2023.
The song has a wintery ethereal feel and is introduced by an almost spaghetti western flavour on guitars accompanied by soft and catchy piano motif’s performed by Niall. The song focuses on the hustle, bustle and the family household frenzy in the build up to Christmas. The chorus has a positive and peaceful message which is driven home by the wonderful school pupil’s singing.
The song is accompanied by a festive music video recorded in the school hall featuring a very special top hat, which legend has it was worn during the proclamation of The Irish Republic in 1916.
