Hailing from Ballybrack on Dublin’s Southside, Ian Versey, better known as Versey, is an independent Irish hip-hop artist, storyteller and lyricist whose music combines sharp writing, honest storytelling and a strong sense of place.
Versey first gained widespread attention with ‘Welcome To Ballybrack,’ his hometown anthem that became one of his best-known records and helped establish him as a distinctive voice within Irish hip-hop. The track was followed by Ballybrack The Album, featuring collaborations with artists including Redzer, Terawrizt, Rob Kelly, Nugget, Jah1, Steo Wall, Slick Bullet and Row-B.
Throughout his career, Versey has shared stages with internationally recognised artists including New York rapper Dave East, while also collaborating with Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. His work has also extended beyond traditional rap releases, including writing and performing the official theme music for a high-profile celebrity boxing event featuring personalities including Sir Stevo, Paddy Barnes, Al Foran and John Connors.
In 2026, Versey continues to build on that foundation with a new chapter of music, including his concept album Full Circle. The project follows the arc of a relationship from meeting and falling in love through heartbreak, reconciliation and ultimately coming full circle, bringing together personal storytelling, melodic hooks and a wide range of Irish collaborators.
Recent releases have seen Versey continue to develop his sound and songwriting, with coverage and support from outlets including Hot Press, GoldenPlec alongside radio support from RTÉ 2FM, FM104 and stations across Ireland and the UK.
‘Rebound’ out August 28th is the latest single from the forthcoming concept album Full Circle, continuing the emotional journey that began with the heartbreak of ‘Wish You Well’. The track captures the moment when friends step in, encouraging a return to the world and the possibility of a fresh start.

Blending personal storytelling with dynamic hip-hop energy, ‘Rebound’ features Wantali, a Malawian-born, UK-based hip-hop artist and songwriter known for his vivid storytelling and energetic delivery.
On the track, Wantali is a Malawian-born, UK-based hip-hop artist and songwriter known for his storytelling and energetic delivery. Active since 2006, he brings charisma and lyrical flair to Rebound as Versey’s wingman, encouraging him to leave heartbreak behind and embrace a fresh start.
Also appearing on the single is Jah1, is an independent hip-hop artist from Monkstown Farm, Dublin, and a long-time friend and frequent collaborator of Versey. His energetic delivery and relatable lyricism bring the perfect finishing touch to Rebound.
Together, the three artists create a track that moves from vulnerability into confidence, marking an important turning point in the wider story of Full Circle.
