Ian Paul Ashford is an Irish singer songwriter with deep roots in the Irish music scene through his own unique work and his father the late Paul Ashford, a revered Irish musician of the Dublin band, Stepaside.
‘Supernatural Faith’ is his latest composition in combination with Swiss/Italian bassist Fabien Iannone and Swiss drummer George Oldream.
Ashford said:
“The idea for this song started in my kitchen in France in late spring, 2023 and it was completed at my mother’s house in Dublin, Ireland, this winter of 2026. The theme of this song is hope and heroic defiance in the face of adversity. I wanted to write a buoyant song in these traumatic and violent times.”
“It wasn’t until I returned to Ireland that I found old books and records up in the attic at my family home in Dublin. That discovery spurred me to finish this particular composition. “Supernatural Faith” was influenced by William Butler Yeats and Seamus Heaney’s insights on “the music of things” along with the Beatles.“
