MACRUA is back with a Bang, unleashing Soft Rock Firestarter ‘Initiation‘. The debut Single from their upcoming EP drops June 27, 2025.
The stage is set, the curtain rises, and MACRUA steps into the spotlight with ‘Initiation‘— a swaggering, theatrical soft rock single that marks the band’s most confident chapter yet.
Blending energetic rock ‘n’ roll attitude with magnetic storytelling, the track is the first release from MACRUA’s upcoming EP of the same name, due out September 12, 2025.
Led by singer-songwriter and frontman Aaron Smith, MACRUA combines classic rock influences with vibrant, modern energy.
Think Queen’s drama, Meat Loaf’s grandeur, and Fleetwood Mac’s melodic soul — all filtered through the lens of a band that’s just as at home on stage as they are in the studio. ‘Initiation‘ kicks off this journey with stomping guitars, theatrical vocal lines, and a cheeky lyrical twist that nods to emerging artists like CMAT.
“This is the start of a new era for us,” says Aaron. “We’ve found our footing as a soft rock band that’s theatrical, fun, but still totally honest to who we are.”
Having already made waves with their first independent release ‘Shotgun’ and live shows at Whelan’s Main Room, The Grand Social, and The Tower Carlow, MACRUA is quickly becoming one of Ireland’s most exciting new acts. They’ve also been featured across Irish radio, including Today FM with Dave Moore, Beat 102 103, and KCLR.
Produced by Dave Ayers at Studio 51, the Initiation EP promises five original tracks that dive into a sonically rich world MACRUA calls their “Alice in Wonderland mind” — where heart, humour, and high-octane hooks collide.
