Mundy and Paddy Casey announced for Dublin Racing Festival

January 24, 2023

Two of Ireland’s best loved homegrown acts, Mundy and Paddy Casey are announced as headliners for Dublin Racing Festival over the Bank holiday weekend on February 4 and 5, 2023 at Leopardstown Racecourse. Mundy and Paddy Casey will perform after racing on the Bulmers Live Stage, as part of Horse Racing Ireland’s partnership with Bulmers Ireland.

Dublin Racing Festival is the biggest social and sporting weekend on the Irish calendar and is a true celebration of Dublin and strength of Irish racing. While Grade 1 horse racing will top the bill over the weekend, Leopardstown Racecourse is set to bring the ‘the best of Dublin’ to the racecourse, celebrating the fair city’s famous top-class music, food and culture. Everything that you expect as a celebration of Dublin will be at Leopardstown including face painters, buskers, street performers, Irish Dancing, and live trad sessions throughout the day.

The multi-platinum artist Mundy will take to the stage on day one of the festival.  Mundy began his career on the energetic Dublin busking scene before singles ‘Gin & Tonic Sky’ and ‘Life’s a Cinch’ became hits for the Offaly musician. After signing to Sony, Mundy was catapulted into the spotlight when ‘To You I Bestow’ off his debut album Jelly Legs was featured on Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’. Since then, he has gone on to release 8 further albums and toured extensively with artists such as Neil Young, R.E.M., Oasis, Emmylou Harris, and The Pogues.

Having been at the forefront of the Irish music scene since his multi-platinum selling debut album Amen (So Be It), Paddy Casey’s career has taken him all over the globe touring with acts like The Pretenders, R.E.M, Ian Brown, Blondie and Tracy Chapman. Tracks off Amen (So Be It) were featured in hit television shows such as ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Roswell’. Further establishing himself as one of the country’s most successful artists, his second album Living went on to become one of the biggest ever selling albums in Ireland.

Tim Husbands, CEO at Leopardstown Racecourse said: “Dublin Racing Festival is a celebration of Dublin and the best that Ireland has to offer. We are thrilled to welcome both Mundy and Paddy Casey to event, two outstanding musicians who have been at the forefront of the Irish music scene for many years. The Festival is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our entertainment partnership with Bulmers as we strive to continually improve the racegoer experience.”
