Mr Billy Fitzgerald Drops Remix EP: ‘A Grand Remixed Gesture’ – Out June 26th
Described by The Beat as “one of Ireland’s most exciting voices,” Fitzgerald’s blend of raw emotion and irresistible rhythm continues to impress.
As Tempo Magazine put it: “A perfect debut album” — now with a perfect companion EP.
Hot on the heels of his acclaimed debut album ‘A Grand Romantic Gesture’, Dublin-based artist Mr Billy Fitzgerald returns with a bold new release: ‘A Grand Remixed Gesture‘ — a five-track EP of reimaginings and remixes that push his indie-pop sound into exciting new territory. And yes, he couldn’t resist the title.
Hailed by The GOO Magazine as “one of the best Irish albums of the year,” Billy’s debut introduced listeners to his infectious blend of upbeat grooves, self-aware lyrics, and a falsetto that refuses to be ignored.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Prince, Beck, and David Byrne, he describes his style as “songs about heartbreak that make you want to dance.”
Now, with A Grand Remixed Gesture, that danceability takes center stage. Billy tapped some of Ireland’s most creative producers and musicians to remix tracks from his debut — the result is a diverse, dynamic EP that transforms the originals into entirely new experiences.
Highlights include:
● Frankenstein Bolts’ dreamy, synth-pop reinvention of You Had Your Chance, evoking shades of Air and Daft Punk.
● Neosupervital turns Let Us Be into a glitchy, stoner dancefloor trip.
● Belfast indie-popsters Skysparkle, winners of an online remix contest, deliver a funk-soaked, Prince-style take on Six II Midnight.
● Billy himself gives All F**ked Up Now a 90s hip-hop makeover, inspired by A Tribe Called Quest.
● And standout track Give Me A Chance gets an afrofunk transformation by Mother Tongues, layering live drums and retro synths for an irresistible opener.
Each remix goes beyond the typical ‘dance edit’ — these tracks feel like alternate-universe versions of the originals, rich with personality and invention.
‘A Grand Remixed Gesture’ is out Thursday, 26th June on all major streaming platforms.
On Bandcamp, it’s available as a limited edition cassette and digital download — featuring a bonus track exclusive to that release.
