Irish Artist Miranda Faul To Release Her Latest Single, ‘Favourite Friend’, on Friday 21st August.
Irish singer-songwriter Miranda is quickly establishing herself as a compelling new voice in indie folk and alt-pop. Named a One to Watch for 2026 by Whelan’s in Dublin, her emotionally rich song-writing blends folk roots with soulful melodies and modern pop textures.
Miranda released her debut EP, Rise & Run, in January 2025 to much critical acclaim, achieving over 100,000 streams to date across platforms. Rise & Run includes the electrifying pop anthem, ‘Delicate’ which earned acclaim as Hot Press Magazine’s Track Of The Day, and the dreamy folk-pop single ‘You Would Have Let Me Down’, which debuted as a World Exclusive on BBC Across The Line & on The Greene Room with Jenny Greene on RTE 2FM ahead of it’s release. She released her latest single, ‘Been Here Before’, in October 2025, celebrating the release with a headline gig in Bello Bar, Dublin.
‘Favourite Friend’ is the first single from her sophomore EP, The Bar Is In Hell, which is set for release in late 2026.
This release comes in the middle of a busy year for Miranda, which saw her perform at Whelan’s Ones To Watch and Whelan’s Summer Watch, debut at Ruby Sessions, open for artists including Tide Lines, Dear Willow, and Jesse Sykes in Dublin, and tour in Berlin and Amsterdam. She is set to make her debut at Electric Picnic in August, before showcasing at Ireland Music Week 2026 in October.
Speaking on ‘Favourite Friend’, Miranda says:
“‘Favourite Friend’ is about calling up an old ‘friends with benefits’ situationship and asking them to come over. There’s a tension throughout the song between promising to keep it casual, and deeper feelings of longing and frustration.
I wrote it last year after a few back to back casual dating situations. I would try to convince myself that I was happy with staying casual so that they’d keep coming back. Usually, I was lying to myself and them.
It was produced by Cian Sweeney. We went for a darker, more experimental sound with this EP. It’s a five-track project we started working on in January. I’m excited to finally share the first track.”
