Meath Singer-Songwriter Martin Moran to release new Single ‘Take Your Truth’ Friday, April 4th
“Take your truth” is the next single from independent Meath singer/songwriter, Martin Moran. The track marks a return to a more electric guitar driven sound for Moran, a sound which has been influenced by the rock and grunge bands of the 90’s and early 2000’s such as Manic Street Preachers, Goo Goo Dolls & Pearl Jam which Moran grew up listening to. Commenting on the sound Moran says;
“Electric guitar is my main instrument that I always play live so I always feel more comfortable with that sound of loud distorted guitars. But I also like songs with melodies that you can just hum or sing away by yourself just going about your business, you know? So I like to write songs that have a blend of both that rock sound but also a nice melody to the lyrics.”
Take your truth was recorded by Moran in his home studio with him producing and playing all instruments on the song, roles which the singer is becoming more comfortable with in recent times.
“I think I’m getting better at it!” Says Moran. “Especially the drums. I only started playing drums because I had to so I could have something on the songs. But now I find I’m writing more fitting drum parts to the songs and not just playing a straight beat and it’s giving more groove and flow to the songs.”
Moran also plays an intricate and almost disco style bass line on the new song that drives the chorus especially.
As the title, “Take your truth” hints, the song speaks about acceptance.
“So, the character in the song is talking about taking people or situations or even both, as they are. Not expecting more than it is, enjoy the moment and tomorrow will be what it is. Find a safe place to be who you are and show the rest of the world as much or as little as you want. So he’s offering to be that safe place to someone, I guess.” – Moran.
Take your truth will be available for free download on martinmoran.bandcamp.com and streaming on all platforms from 4th April 2025.
