25-year-old singer-songwriter, Mark O’Donnell, is set to release his third release of 2025.
‘CAN’T GO BACK’ will be released on Friday, December 5th, across all digital streaming platforms. ‘CAN’T GO BACK’ was written by Mark and produced by Jake Richardson.
On the song, Mark said “CAN’T GO BACK is a song that I wrote about nostalgia & longing. My grandparents passed away when I was 15. I feel like I wasn’t old enough back then to fully appreciate their company. I’m often sat thinking about the conversations I never got to have with them, especially now that I’m an adult. Their house is now occupied by another family.
It’s very difficult to come to terms with losing a loved one, but not many people talk about the fact that, in many cases, the house they lived in must, in a way, move on too. So many people will relate to this song; many already have. This song is a tribute to my grandparents.”
This single comes shortly after Mark’s last release ‘Bleed’ which was a collaboration with fellow Irish Artist, Chris Cresham. Mark’s first release of 2025 was a song called ‘BREAK YOUR HEART’ which has almost reached 200k streams on Spotify. This was released shortly after heartfelt single, ‘if only I knew’.
Both songs were selected as RTÉ 2FM Track of the Week. ‘if only I knew’ also featured in a number of Official Spotify playlists including New Music Friday UK. Mark’s cover of ‘you to me are everything’ received international attention after being played on the UK Love Island series during Ella and Tyrique’s first date in June 2023.
The brand-new single, ‘CAN’T GO BACK’, by Mark O’Donnell, is set for release on Spotify, Apple Music and all other streaming platforms on Friday, December 5th. This new song will be released just two weeks after Mark’s second sold out headline show of the year in renowned live music venue, The Academy, in Dublin.
