long sole sound w/ Léonie Bluett, Sept 10th,Lutheran Hall

Following on from the success of the ‘Strung Series’ and in continuation of our 2015 programme, ICC are delighted to present ‘long sole sound w/ Léonie Bluett’.

The concert will premiere 7 new works composed especially for clarinetist Leonie Bluett by ICC members, first workshopped in June 2015.
The programme features a diverse range of styles in a mixture of acoustic and electronic material by composers Elis Czerniak, Hugh Martin Boyle, Daniel Reid, Barry O’Halpin, Killian O’Kelly, Kevin Free & Teodor Iuliu Radu.

Winner of the Buffet Crampon Clarinet Prize at the Royal Academy of Music in 2014, Leonie Bluett has received both the Flax Trust Bursary 2013 and the Fund of France Award 2012 at the Camerata Ireland Clandeboye Music Festival and was prizewinner at the Freemasons Young Irish Musician of the Year 2011.

Leonie has performed with Camerata Ireland and the Britten-Pears Orchestra and has performed in opera productions with the Lismore Music Festival Chamber orchestra and Wide Open Opera. She s a member of the Cross Keys clarinet quartet in London. Leonie has a great interest in contemporary music and has performed and premiered new works around Ireland and in London. She plays regularly with the Kirkos Ensemble, most recently taking part in the Blackout series. She also occasionally composes and creates audiovisual works herself and has had pieces performed at the Irish Contemporary Music Centre and at a Kaleidoscope Night.

In July 2014 Leonie graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a Masters in performance studying with Chris Richards, Angela Malsbury, Lorenzo Iosco and Chi-Yu Mo. Her undergraduate studies were completed at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with Paul Roe and John Finucane.

The concert will take place Thursday 10th September at 8pm in the beautifully resonant Lutheran Hall, 24 Adelaide Rd, Dublin 2.
