Rich in hooks & melodies with a sombre vocal, New Found Evil feels nostalgic yet undeniably contemporary. The song’s theme touches on the struggles of introversion & isolation, the headlines that flood our screens and the interpersonal relationships that can influence our everyday thoughts.

“The idea originally stemmed from the end of a romantic relationship. We sometimes get so wrapped up in someone, that we start to isolate ourselves from the people closest to us. We can end up in this loop of trying to put on a brave face and feeling like maybe things could get better. But in the end, we keep doing what we’ve always done, and we keep getting what we’ve always gotten.”

“Celebrating New Years Eve. Same old sh*t and same old you and it’s the same me.”

With further releases, an album and live dates already in the pipeline, Culture Kid is set to take his first steps with this melancholic debut release, ‘New Found Evil’ – which was officially released on all streaming platforms October 25th.

Culture Kid is the solo project of Irish multi-instrumentalist Fionn Hennessy-Hayes. His infectiously honest songs explore relationships and a search for “home”, informed by a childhood where his family moving home or even country became bizarrely normal.

From his late teens the trend continued as Fionn toured internationally as a session drummer with Irish pop artists like; Cian Ducrot, Pa Sheehy, Stephanie Rainey. As well as touring and recording with a rich variety of Indie artists.

Now inspired by artists like George Harrison, Arcade Fire and Phoebe Bridgers, Fionn is focusing on one of the greatest comforts he found along the way, songwriting. His debut single ‘New Found Evil’ marries airy classic melodies with a deceptively somber lyric – “I’m tired of being alone, I’ve been losing touch with people, quiet laying low, bite your tongue and keep your distance”.

Shaped for better or worse by being the perennial new kid in town, this nomad has found home in the music he is making as Culture Kid.

With the bit of time that he has found for himself, Fionn has been working on a debut album. Recorded at Wavefield in Clonakilty with producer Brian Casey. This body of work is set to be an exciting new venture for the already experienced musician.
