Fresh from his success as a top-three BBC Introducing Ireland pick,  Limerick-born artist Lloyd John returns with his most powerful alt-rock anthem yet.

This record was born from a fearful place and centres around ‘The Morning After the Night Before’.

‘Took It Too Far’ is the final single from the upcoming EP ‘Am I Pretty Enough?’, available January 24th, 2025.

Raw and brutally honest, ‘Took It Too Far‘ explores the vulnerable intersection between celebration and regret. Originally titled “The Fear” – a common Irish term for post-party anxiety – the track was born from a deeply personal experience:

I threw a small party at my house where I took things too far, passed out and hit my head on the floor. The next day at a social event, I realised people were laughing at me — and not just friends. Strangers knew what had happened too. It felt wrong. What happened in my home, a place that should feel private and safe, had been shared with everyone.”

The Lock-In

Taking inspiration from the Sex Pistols’ infamous creative process of living and rehearsing together to forge their raw sound, Lloyd and his band are embarking on a four-day intensive residential rehearsal. Living in a space definitely not big enough for five 6ft men, they’ll be:

  • Living, eating, and creating together 24/7
  • Deconstructing and rebuilding the EP’s tracks for live performance
  • Experimenting with new arrangements and sonic textures
  • Documenting the entire process through analog photography
  • Posting live updates as they go, to involve the world in the process
