Help Shape Responsible AI for Artists, Musicians & Creatives
On May 22, 2025 (13.00pm – 14.00pm), Dublin’s National Concert Hall will host a free event exploring the impact of AI on music and creativity. This gathering is both an exploration and a call to action, spotlighting the challenges and opportunities AI presents for Ireland’s creative sectors. “Let’s make AI:OK for music and the creative sector” brings together leading voices in AI, music, policy, and ethics to shape a responsible approach to AI integration.
Dr. Martin Clancy has become a global voice in the movement for ethical AI in the creative industries – as a Senior AI Research Fellow at Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics at DCU and a Policy Fellow at Trinity College Dublin’s Long Room Hub, and supported by Enterprise Ireland and Research Ireland. Joining Martin on stage will be:
- Prof. Noel O’Connor, CEO of Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics
- Anna McPartlin Best selling author, film producer, screenwriter RTE’s ‘Gone’
- Ciaran Conroy, Acting CEO of the Association of Independent Music Ireland (AIM)
The event will serve as an opportunity to announce a bold new Irish initiative: AI:OK for the creative industries, supported through Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund:
- AI:OK is a revocable, recognisable Trustmark for ethical AI products and services
- It is designed to provide a practical framework for music makers to leverage AI without losing rights
- The trustmark establishes concrete standards for all stakeholders
- The forthcoming AI:OK literacy programme will provide a powerful first-step educational tool based on Irish AI Advisory Council recommendations that actually work for creative industries citizens.
While especially valuable for music professionals, creators from all disciplines will gain crucial insights applicable to their fields.
This event is co-organised by Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics and ADAPT Research Ireland Centre for AI-Driven Digital Content Technology.

“It is clear from the dialogue we have with our members and wider stakeholder community that generative AI poses a major conundrum for the music industry. Music has been a great adopter of new technology, and we are excited about the huge potential that AI opens up. However, we worry greatly that many platforms depend completely on the decades of incredible music that has been used as training inputs, without permission or payment. The launch of AI:OK is a really positive development to help unlock that conundrum by allowing us to identify and use AI technologies that have been developed and are operated in an ethical and responsible way.” – Mark Douglas, Chief Information Officer, PPL
“We embrace and encourage ethical AI innovation that respects creators and advances human artistry. The music industry is partnering with dozens of groundbreaking AI companies that respect copyright, and we are gratified that AI:OK is undertaking efforts to protect creators in the AI space.” – Mitch Glazier, Chairman & CEO, Recording Association of America® (RIAA)

“As a creator personally and as the representative for Music Producers, Mixers and Recording Engineers through the Music Producers Guild (MPG) we remain hopeful about the innovative possibilities AI brings to the table. However, there are crucial concerns that demand attention. AI:OK was the first and only initiative that truly offered hope, with a creator’s voice in the mix making them uniquely positioned to foster a consensus within our often fractured but resilient industry.” – Cameron Craig, Executive Director, The Music Producers Guild (UK)
