Last Apollo has released her second single ‘Hummingbird’ from her upcoming debut album I’ll Walk Towards You on 4 September 2026.
Following the release of Last Apollo’s debut EP (since removed from streaming), Ordinary Matter, Lucy found herself at a crossroads. Her bandmates were moving to London, she had just experienced her first true heartbreak, and so she packed up and moved to London with the only people she knew how to make music with. They relentlessly played in London across independent venues, becoming regulars in the Windmill in Brixton. Away from familiar faces and audiences, they had the space to comfortably experiment and expand their sound.
Lucy wrote constantly, in rehearsals, between shows, in her flat in London, until I’ll Walk Towards You revealed itself as her debut album. Then began the recording process, with producer Sergio Maschetzko, whose work with artists like Black Country, New Road and The Last Dinner Party had long inspired Lucy.
After multiple re-records, it became clear to Lucy that there was an intangible essence missing. The band packed their bags. “Sergio somehow trusted us enough to drive back to Dublin with all of his microphones.” – Lucy exclaimed. The band returned to Dublin to record it live in two familiar bedrooms they used to rehearse in, over five days. That’s what it took to get it right. Home.
“Apart from different scenes and different bands, the only actual important thing to me in terms of location has been where my band is. To spend time thinking together, playing together and listening together in our own little microcosm. Right now, we find ourselves back in Ireland. This album has captured the sound of us in my living room – the place where it all started and I can’t wait to see which way this microcosm blows next.”
I’ll Walk Towards You is shaped over three years by the originally written love letters that have traced their way into songs. The narrative echoes the aftermath of heartbreak: full of clarity, retrospect, and a deep care for the other. Multiple truths existing simultaneously. The album moves sonically between art rock, folk and chamber pop. Last Apollo’s new sound feels assured, profound and transformed. In this collage of grief, care and honesty, one sees clearly what remains: an artifact of love.
During those three years, Last Apollo has quietly become one of Ireland’s most compelling live artists. Lucy has sold out headline shows at The Grand Social and The Button Factory, where early versions of I’ll Walk Towards You were performed in a special chamber arrangement before the album had even been recorded. She has appeared at Ireland Music Week, Primavera Pro and The Great Escape 2025, and shared stages with artists including Morgana, Sprints, Bartees Strange, Villagers and Imelda May. Much of that momentum came before a single note of the album had been released.
That journey begins with debut single ‘Home’, the first glimpse into I’ll Walk Towards You, which came out last month.

The follow up single, ‘Hummingbird’ continues the story, Last Apollo explains:
“After a week of recording the album in my living room – we recorded the backing vocals for Hummingbird at about 2am – a few hours before I would have to get the boat back to London. It was a bittersweet moment – an album three years in the making was coming to an end – three years of memories, heartache and laughter were speeding past me for the last time as the tape rolled – but, at the same time – I was full of joy knowing that every second of those last three years had love from the voices you hear on that track woven through them.
This song is the mission statement of the album – to love and have big feelings is only ever a positive thing! Pain and sadness are just signs that you were fully alive and feeling everything. Everything you are feeling is temporary – time will march on regardless – the only thing you can do is appreciate what is in front of you and wave at it, smiling, as it makes its way past.”
