LARAbEL Unveils Fourth Single From Upcoming EP ‘Squiggle’: Féileacán – A song about letting go of control
For fans of: Ben Howard, Holly Humberstone, Sinéad O’Connor
“A gifted singer and songwriter, LARAbEL is one of Ireland’s finest up and coming talents”
– Moya Brennan
“Built around a delicate guitar melody and subtle ambient textures, the track unfolds with quiet grace, drawing the listener in through LARAbEL’s captivating vocal and a sense of restrained emotional power.” – Record of the Day, in response to ‘Pigeon Song‘
Here is what LARAbEL said about the meaning of the song:
“Féileacán, the Gaelic word for butterfl y, is a song about surrendering and trusting your intuition—allowing the process to happen instead of trying so hard to control every corner of your life. It’s about realizing that things can come in and out of your life with ease if you believe that everything has a purpose and its place.”
Féileacán invites us into a dreamy, ethereal realm. Through the imagery of a butterfl y, the song explores the idea of releasing the need to control every part of our lives. With its hypnotic guitars and airy, entrancing vocals, it’s easy to get lost in the soundscape—allowing the listener to momentarily let go of their worries and simply float.
With Féileacán, LARAbEL not only showcases her mesmerising vocals and songwriting talent but also celebrates the beauty of the Irish language. A proud Gaeilgeoir and native of the Gaeltacht, LARAbEL weaves Irish into her music with authenticity and emotional depth.
Hailing from the remote Gaeltacht region Gweedore, Co. Donegal, Ireland, LARAbEL is a singer-songwriter who moved to Dublin at 18 to pursue music, later earning a Songwriting degree from BIMM Dublin.
She began busking on Grafton Street in 2020 and has since performed at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, and the 3Olympia Theatre. In 2024, she sold out her first headline show at Whelan’s and headlined Moya Brennan’s Clubeo in Leo’s Tavern. LARAbEL has also supported artists including David Keenan, Glasshouse, and Róisín O.
The now 23 year old artist is ready for what’s next in her musical journey, and you can catch LARAbEL live this summer at All Together Now Festival (August 1st, Hidden Sounds, 2.45pm) and Letterkenny Pride (August 16th, McGinley’s Bar, 7.15pm), as well her own headline shows to be announced soon!
