LARAbEL presents her Second Single: Pigeon Song (feat. Moya Brennan)
In her new single, ‘Pigeon Song’, LARAbEL draws on a mix of influences – both fresh and nostalgic.
No one captures it better than the artist herself, so here’s what LARAbEL had to say about the song:
“Pigeon Song poured out of me in one sitting. It was a flow of subconscious thoughts and feelings that I felt had to be expressed. The song has constantly grown with me, and has been taking on new meanings since its conception.
“A friend of mine passed away last year and this was his favourite of my songs. Since then it’s become his song. Now, the meaning has become clear – it describes a forbidden love and a longing for that connection that can no longer exist.”
Pigeon Song also features the haunting vocals of Moya Brennan—widely known as The Voice of Clannad and The First Lady of Celtic Music. A long time admirer of LARAbEL, Moya has supported her since childhood, when LARAbEL would attend her music night, Clubeo.
Brennan’s contribution adds an ethereal layer to the track, where her voice intertwines with LARAbEL’s, creating a dreamy soundscape that seems to lift the listener into another realm.
Born and raised in the remote Gaeltacht region of Gweedore, in Donegal, Ireland, LARAbEL is a singer-songwriter who, at the age of 18, moved to Dublin to pursue a music career, and has since graduated from BIMM Dublin with a Degree in Songwriting.
LARAbEL began busking on Grafton Street in 2020, and has gone on to perform at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, and the 3Olympia Theatre, as well as selling out her first headline show in Whelan’s in 2024, and headlining Moya Brennan’s own musical night, Clubeo in Leo’s Tavern.
She has also supported various acts such as David Keenan, Glass house, and Róisín O. Now the 23 year old artist is ready for the next step in her musical career.
This new single, Pigeon Song, taken from her debut EP Squiggle, is the second single in a series of releases, and with a captivating stage presence and a rapidly growing fanbase, LARAbEL is set to take the Irish and International music scene by storm.
