Kildare Songwriter Col Patterson releases second solo Album ‘Seed’

July 12, 2024

Seed is the second solo Album from Kildare based singer-songwriter, Col Patterson.

It features 11 songs and was recorded at Jam Studios, Co Meath, with Col’s longtime collaborator, Martin Quinn.

There is a real mix of styles from pop rock in ‘Break the Machine’ to synth-pop in ‘Online Adventure’ and gentler heartfelt tracks such as ‘Upside’ and ‘Heart Listens Out’.

The title track ‘Seed’ deals with trying to find a place of mental stability in a damaged world, growing and learning from mistakes.

‘Break The Machine’ is a song of frustration and anger at the status quo in world affairs.

‘Upside’ imagines a journey up a cold snowy mountain on a quest to find a place of love.

‘Coast is Clear’ is a pop rock feelgood track with a simple message of seeking joy in simpler things and Col’s own attempt to not look back, to take risks, and live a more fulfilling life post pandemic.

‘Stoned Easy Fool’ is another track that delves into Col’s addictive personality over the years and the frustration at slipping back into damaging habits.

‘Online Adventure’ was inspired by the modern addiction of how our devices are extensions of ourselves, for good or bad.

‘Heard’ grapples again with the challenges of instability and social anxiety while wanting to share music in a public way.

‘Brigid’s Land’ tries to encourage young people to show their best selves to the world despite knockbacks.
