Kerry multi-instrumentalist Lorraine Nash releases new Single ‘Steel Hearts’
“If Neil Young was the master at writing songs that get to the heart of the human condition, the same can be said of Nash’s from-the-heart compositions” & “The Future of Irish Folk” – John Meagher, Irish Independent
Lorraine Nash saw the release of her new single ‘Steel Hearts’ on Bank Holiday Mon, 28 Oct 2024 to coincide with her solo show at Sligo Live music festival.
About Steel Hearts, Lorraine says:- ‘As a self-identified people pleaser, I wrote this song reflecting on how it’s a trait that seems deeply ingrained in Irish culture. Steel Hearts is about how constantly putting others before ourselves doesn’t always serve us well. It’s about finding balance—doing right by yourself while still being mindful of others’
Fresh from her recent appearance in Dublin’s National Concert Hall, where she opened for the legendary artist Nick Lowe, Lorraine is excited to play new towns across Ireland, including solo gigs in Coughlans, Cork on 10 Nov, and The Cobblestone, Dublin 17 Nov. Lorraine also played support to John Spillane in The Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire on Sunday 27 Oct.
Lorraine Nash is a 25 yr old multi-instrumentalist from Co Kerry, the heartland of Irish traditional music. She began her musical journey at the age of 6, going on to play Piano, Guitar, Fiddle, Harp, Tin Whistle and Flute. While her traditional background informs her work, her love of Folk, Americana and Country music is a huge influence, in particular the work of artists Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Lisa Hannigan and Laura Marling.
In April 2024, she performed on a special RTÉ 1 primetime music TV show, ‘Songs of Ireland’, with Mike Hanrahan of Stockton’s Wing. She also toured extensively in Australia, and was invited to play the legendary Cambridge Folk Festival, All Together Now and Electric Picnic.
Lorraine’s music has been featured on RTÉ Radio 1, on their Recommended List and received airplay from Mark Radcliffe’s Folk Show BBC Radio 2, TheRalph McLean Show on Radio Ulster, and Iain Anderson on BBC Radio Scotland.
“Lorraine Nash is a skilled musician & talented lyricist… & deserves your attention now.” Americana UK
