Other Voices has announced the first names heading to Derry this September, as the festival begins its 25th anniversary celebrations in the City.
Presented by South Wind Blows Ltd and Ceiliúradh CLG, Other Voices Derry runs from 25–26 September, when St Columb’s Hall – one of the city’s oldest and most beloved venues – will open its doors for a weekend of intimate filmed performances, presented by MayKay and streamed live around the world via the Other Voices YouTube channel. Across the weekend, audiences can expect performances from visceral Dublin four-piece Bleech 9:3, already championed by The Guardian, NME and BBC Radio 1; Glastonbury Emerging Talent winners Westside Cowboy, the Manchester band bringing an indie sound shot through with Americana; once-in-a-generation talent Muireann Bradley who at just 19 has captivated audiences worldwide with her interpretations of classic blues songs. Making her long awaited Other Voices debut, BRIT Award-winning singer, songwriter, actor and activist Kate Nash will bring her distinctive blend of indie-pop, wit and storytelling to St Columb’s Hall as Other Voices’ 25th anniversary celebrations open in Derry.
All performances from St Columb’s Hall will be streamed globally via the Other Voices YouTube channel. Even more headline acts are to be announced very soon. Although tickets for the filming sessions at St Columb’s are not for sale, there will be plenty of chances to access free Golden Tickets in the coming weeks via the Other Voices social channels.
The Music Trail
Beyond St Columb’s Hall, the Music Trail will take over some of Derry’s best-loved venues for a weekend of live music across the city. Dozens of shows, one weekend, and the chance to discover your next favourite band alongside Other Voices favourites.

Bleech 9:3, Westside Cowboy and Kate Nash will play special Music Trail shows alongside their filmed St Columb’s Hall performances, while Falkirk five-piece Brògeal brings a special show of their own to the Trail, giving attendees the chance to see these acts up close alongside some of the island’s most exciting and diverse talent.
Soundings
Making its debut at Other Voices Derry this September is Soundings, a new ideas and discussion strand bringing together artists, writers, makers, thinkers and community leaders for a series of thoughtful and lively conversations about art, culture and society.
The inaugural Soundings line-up brings together RTÉ Europe Editor Tony Connelly; writer and broadcaster Séamas O’Reilly; IFTA-winning screenwriter Ailbhe Keogan (Trespasses); BAFTA-nominated filmmaker and artist Myrid Carten (A Want in Her); journalist and author Aoife Moore; writer and essayist Darran Anderson; acclaimed author and music journalist Emma Warren; Celtronic founder Gareth Stewart; Oh Yeah Music Centre’s Claire Hall, aka DJ Venus Dupree; and DJ, broadcaster and cultural commentator Cóilí Collins / Shampain.
Soundings takes place on Saturday, 26 September and is free to attend, with advance registration required through Eventbrite. The full programme and schedule, with registration opening, will be announced next week.
Tickets
Weekend Music Trail wristbands are on sale now via Eventbrite, priced at £60 plus booking fees. The wristband gets you access to every Music Trail show, as well as Soundings, and automatically enters you into the draw for tickets to the filmed performances at St Columb’s Hall. With the first wave selling out in under an hour, wristbands are expected to move quickly, so attendees are encouraged to book soon to avoid disappointment.
