Eye Closed Bio:

“The heaviest track seen from the band thus far, eyes closed is equal parts intimate and fuelled with anger. Exploring themes of sexuality and shame the song dives into an intrusive thought of feeling objectified after a distasteful experience. Featuring the bands signature haunting vocals, dissonant harmonies and shriek of guitars this tracks sits comfortably in the bands library while showing off the range of their sound.”

“With changing dynamics the track keeps you on your toes, from frustrated cries ‘are you even there’ to confessional pre-choruses, all but whispered to the listener, eyes closed rises and falls like changing emotions. Representing an intrusive thought, which quickly became a spiral the song builds in tension and irritation before a final release and crescendo.”

Meaning:

“I wrote eyes closed after a visiting my friend on Erasmus – we saw more of their club culture than the countries culture but we were on a girls holiday and having fun. One night a guy came on to me, interested but also seeming a bit off. Eventually one of his friends got my attention and started tapping his ring finger, the guy who was dancing with me had a girlfriend. We were raging, but I was more upset for his girlfriend back home.”

“An intrusive thought quickly became a rabbit hole and between that and the other random rendezvous of the holiday, one who grabbed me so hard it left mark, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Feeling objectified and feeling shame I scribbled away in my notes app on my flight home, thus came eyes closed.”

“Originally a sad demo in 6/8 used to explain my feelings to myself, by the time this song came to the band it had more anger than hurt in it and we completely flipped it on its head. One of our heavier tracks and a lot of fun to play live it’s been a fun one to evolve.”
