”Hold Me Up’ is really quite a personal song. It’s a conversation with my vision of God, it’s a plea for help in hard times. Not in the sense of asking pain to end, but rather to have the strength to weather it, and to stay on what I feel is the right path. I think in our own way, we all find ourselves down and out on our knees at some point. I wrote this song to pick myself back up, and I hope it can do that for others too.’

Hot Press“It’s not being duly hyperbolic to say that Shobsy could soon be sitting at Pop’s top table with the likes of Harry Styles, Lewis Capaldi and Sam Smith”

EARMILK “Multicoloured pop banger, dripping in riveting falsetto and exotic stylings”

Pop Matters “Ireland’s Shobsy possesses a genuinely extraordinary voice, wholly unique and with a mind-blowing range”

Having recently signed a worldwide music publishing deal with Pangea International Music Publishing/Sony Music Publishing, Irish prince of pop Shobsy releases his new single ‘Hold Me Up’ on Fri Feb 14th with the track already having received substantial international airplay on over 70 stations globally.

Shobsy plays his biggest headline gig to date at Whelan’s in Dublin on Saturday March 22nd just after he returns from Los Angeles where he will be the ‘special guest’ performer at the International Music Industry Awards Gala Dinner.

Shobsy’s previous releases ‘Vanity’, ‘ENTERTAINMENT’ and Champagne’ were received exceptionally well with support given both at home in Ireland and overseas by publications such as EARMILK, PopMatters, Nialler 9, Hot Press and Record Of The Day amongst many others. Two of his tracks were featured as ‘Record of the Week’ on Irish national station 2fm with ‘ENTERTAINMENT‘ also selected as ‘Irish Track of the Year’ by the Irish Daily Mirror in 2024 alongside Fontaines D.C. who were selected as the ‘Irish Album of the Year’.

Alongside performing as ‘special guest’ at The International Music Industry Person of the Year Award
presentation to Jacqueline Saturn (President Virgin Music Group North America) in Los Angeles Shobsy
has also performed numerous sold out shows at prestigious Irish venues over the past year including at The Workman’s Club, The National Concert Hall and The Academy.

In July he was one of a handful of Irish acts (alongside Dermot Kennedy & Gavin James) invited to perform at a special Irish Music Industry showcase event hosted by the President of Ireland at the President’s residence in Dublin.

A recent performance on Ireland’s biggest TV show ‘The Late Late Show’ would lead to far reaching additional attention for this Dublin based singer-songwriter and live performer. Shobsy performed a special acoustic re-working of the Jimmy Somerville classic ‘Smalltown Boy‘ on the show featuring vocals with piano accompaniment. It was sublime in its sentiment and delivery and went viral online clocking up over 100k views in 12 hours.

Shobsy has performed numerous times with the RTE Concert Orchestra performing songs from David Bowie and Phil Lynott at sold out shows at the National Convert Hall and at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. Fans of George Michael, David Bowie and The Weeknd are in for a treat as Shobsy’s new recordings made in Berlin & Dublin embodies each of them through their genre-hopping rhythm, crossing the boundaries of synth pop into R&B. This Dubliner’s natural vocal ability, showmanship yet grounded charismatic and personable character has already gained him a growing legion of fans.

Shobsy plays Whelans in Dublin on Sat 22nd March. Tickets available here: SHOBSY – Whelan’s
