Irish Legend Supergroup Launches ‘Somewhere In Heaven’

January 26, 2015

Christy, Francie & FinbarA brand new single entitled ‘Somewhere In Heaven’ will be released to download on 30th January, featuring a collaboration between Francie Conway, Christy Dignam and Finbar Furey.

Written by acclaimed singer-songwriter Francie Conway, ‘Somewhere In Heaven’ is a song with a simple message that holds great meaning for many. Francie has been a long time collaborator with an Irish icon of music, Finbar Furey. Finbar was so impressed that not only does he play Banjo, Whistle and Uillean Pipes on the recording himself, but he also suggested Aslan lead vocalist Christy Dignam to perform the vocals.

Recalling hearing the song for the first time, Christy Dignam said:
“As soon as I heard the song – it moved me. Francie Conway’s lyrics are so simple and humble and the message is so powerful that I knew I wanted to be part of this.  It was like a modern day ‘Imagine’. Finbar and I have always had a mutual respect for each other and I was honoured that he wanted me to sing lead. This is very different to anything I’ve ever done before. Also to work with these amazing musicians…The song itself is bigger than any of us.”

Also performing backing vocals on the track is Chris White of the iconic 1960s Rock group ‘The Zombies’, along with Vivienne Boucherel. ‘The Zombies’ are still widely remembered today, their hit ‘She’s Not There’featured last year in the Chanel TV advert featuring Keira Knightley. Chris White also played an instrumental A & R role in the discovery of Dire Straits, and recently his song ‘This Will Be Our Year’was covered by Foo Fighters.

Completing the all-star line-up of musical talent is Matt Kelleghan on Drums, who was the drummer in one of Ireland’s most successful bands – ‘Moving Hearts’. Tomas Reinerson performs on Bass, along with Dom Torche on Hammond Organ. Parts of the song were recorded at the Tempo Studio, Dublin,Sunfish Studio, London, Relief Studio, Switzerland and Kiwi Studio, Sweden, before the track was mixed by Francesso Gatti, and mastered by Aidan Foley in Dublin.

‘Somewhere In Heaven’ will be released through all major download sites on Friday 30th January 2015. It is also currently available for radio airplay.
