Irish folk rock band Blue Fish Diamond to release new single about relationships, jealousy and insecurity September 20th

September 12, 2024

“a bit of a super-group for those in the know in the capital” – Hot Press Magazine

One More Chance is a plaintive ballad about a relationship beset with feelings of deep love, jealousy and insecurity. Yet another falling out is signposted by the opening line of Matilda O’Mahony’s haunting vocals “waiting for the phone to ring, this deathly silence makes me think …”. It becomes clear that the relationship is on its last legs, with the protagonist pleading for “one more chance”. The music for the song captures the turbulent nature of the relationship, building from a solo piano intro to an orchestral crescendo before closing with a sense of calm once again.

One More Chance will be available on all major streaming platforms from Friday 20th September. It was produced by Gavin Glass at Orphan Recording Studios  and it was written by Jim Murphy. The artwork for the single was designed by Cathal MacHale.

Blue Fish Diamond are a Dublin based folk band who have been described by Hot Press magazine as “a bit of a super-group for those in the know in the capital”. The band was founded in 2016 by Jim Murphy, who in 2014 left a 25 year career in the insurance industry to pursue music full-time.

In 2018, the band released their debut album From Dark to Light and followed this up in 2021 with their second album Frozen Stars on the Night. Their main influences include Tom Petty, R.E.M., The Beatles and Paul Simon.

Blue Fish Diamond’s music has been played on radio stations across Ireland including on national radio and they have also caught the attention of radio presenters in various European countries, the United States and Australia. One of their songs (Salvation Call) was included on a global retail playlist throughout 2019 and for part of 2020. They’re a staple of the Dublin live music scene and they have also played at venues in Kilkenny, Wicklow, Cork, Monaghan, Mayo and Cavan as well as at festivals in Laois, Dublin, Cork and Monaghan including at Electric Picnic.
