A broody and funky disco-rock number describing the moment a lifelong, unrequited love is revealed.
Irish-born and East Africa-raised multi-instrumentalist and artist Kiruu is back with his latest musical offering, “Kyanite”, out on April 1. “Kyanite” effortlessly blends elements of pop, disco, and rock to deliver a rhythmic story of lifelong, unrequited love. It captures a hidden yearning unveiled – “I never saw you as a friend”. Kiruu has once again partnered with Cork-based producer, Cian Sweeney, who in 2024 produced “Mbingu”, a groovy Afro-pop number.
He says: “I wanted to create a song that would resonate with the universal feeling of unspoken longing, but that would also make you want to dance.”
Kiruu offers a unique sound taking influence from his mixed background, with roots in Tanzania and Ireland, and years spent in Spain. His songs are both deeply personal and universally resonant, incorporating multiple languages, musical styles, and storytelling. His 2019 album, Super Feo Express, garnered positive reviews from Nialler9, Hotpress, and other media, establishing him as a distinctive voice in the Irish music scene.
His 2024 single “Mbingu” was featured on RTE Arena and received acclaimed reviews from Tony Clayton-Lea and The Last Mixed Tape.
“Kyanite” is available on all major streaming platforms.
