Jesus Guns Babies, the explosive seventh single from Thewlis, is now available on all streaming platforms. On their follow-up to While The Red Light’s On the Irish band don’t so much nod as genuflect to bands they love, such as Stiff Little Fingers and The Undertones. They look west for lyrical inspiration to events in the ‘good ol’ US of A’. The title is purloined from the election campaign slogan of Kandiss Taylor, a Trumpist candidate in the Georgia gubernatorial election of 2022. Her words have inspired a punkish banger that you will love and want to play and sing again and again.
Thewlis are Danny McElhinney: lead vocals and rhythm guitar & Cormac Curtis: Lead Guitar and backing vocals. Pete Holidai produced Jesus Guns Babies at Pilgrim Sound in Dublin in August 2024. He also played bass and programmed the drums. He mixed and mastered it as well. ‘That’s because he is an absolute legend’.
