“This Irish trio lean into their heritage with traditional instruments and evocative, poetic songwriting. Yet their sound has a distinctly pop feel, soaring with anthemic choruses and frontman Eddie Keough’s distinctive, barrel-chested burr.” – The Independent

Irish indie-folk trio Kingfishr are in the midst of a spectacular rise which has grown exponentially throughout 2025. Having exceeded 50 million streams and played landmark festival sets at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, the band are now about to embark on a major Ireland and UK headline tour. The reaction has been phenomenal, with 10,000 tickets sold in a day for the Irish dates while their UK following has radically expanded, leading to their biggest ever London show at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire selling out weeks in advance.

Now Kingfishr preview the tour by releasing the brand new single ‘The Saviour’. If you’ve missed their under-the-radar rise, ‘The Saviour’ makes for a compelling introduction to Kingfishr’s world. They stand at the enticing junction between soaring, irresistible indie-folk choruses and the character and traditions that come from their Irish heart. But it’s the sheer passion of their supercharged emotion that takes them to another level and makes them a band to believe in, with Eddie Keogh’s sonorous vocal delivered with the heartfelt intensity of a man who feels every word that he sings.

Eddie says, “‘The Saviour’ is about moving forward in the face of the challenges you face. It’s about accepting the circumstances you find yourself in and aiming up from there.

It’s written in large part about college experiences. The pre-chorus is a reference to a night I found a girl passed out on the street, in convulsions on some kind of drugs. I often wonder what happened to her. She was in a really bad way and it was obvious her friends didn’t give a shit about her.”

Consisting of Eddie Keogh (vocals, guitar), Eoghan ‘McGoo’ McGrath (banjo) and Eoin ‘Fitz’ Fitzgibbon (bass), formed while studying engineering at the University of Limerick. Sharing influences such as Hans Zimmer, Bon Iver and Ben Howard, they started to cultivate a devoted following with just their second single, ‘eyes don’t lie’, which became an unexpected viral hit leading to 10 million+ streams for that track alone. They built upon that breakthrough with a selection of standalone singles and this year’s debut EP ‘Shadows’.

Renowned as a phenomenal live band, their support shows have included George Ezra, Dermot Kennedy, Tom Walker and Snow Patrol, as well as a set at Bruce Springsteen’s BST Hyde Park event. They subsequently made their chart debut with the ‘Live From Dublin’ album which was recorded at two sold-out shows at the 3Olympia Theatre. It hit #5 on the Irish Album Chart and #1 on the Irish Independent Chart, and also peaked at #7 on the UK’s Folk Albums Chart. Expect 2025 to see them significantly raise the bar on all fronts.
