The Script were recently presented an IMRO Award in recognition of their seventh studio album Satellites.
The IMRO Number 1 Award was introduced to acknowledge IMRO members who reach number 1 in the album charts here in Ireland.
The Script’s‘Satellites‘ sees them re-emerge with undeniable confidence. Lead single ‘Both Ways’ is a fast-paced, dance-floor-filling pop-funk song and one of twelve distinctly unique tracks spanning pure pop, heartfelt folk-flavoured ballads and everything in between, all co-written by frontman Danny O’Donoghue.
Opening up about the album’s name in an interview with RTÉ 2fm, Danny explained how “there’s a lot of meaning” behind the title. “It’s one of the tracks that’s on the album. It’s one of the last songs I wrote with Mark before he passed,” he said. “I just feel like it’s such a great name because at the end of the day we’re all just bits of dust floating through space.”
“Satellites rise above the earth and they have a vantage point to look down and you communicate through satellites as well. So there’s a lot of meaning behind it for me,” he concluded.
