IMLÉ are delighted to announce that they will be playing in Dublin’s Vicar Street for the very first time on December 16th & 17th.

Damien Dempsey has invited Róisín Seoighe x IMLÉ x James Shannon to perform at his sold-out shows in Vicar Street. The current IMLÉ line-up of vocalists Róisín Seoighe, James Shannon, guitarist & founding member Cian Mac Cárthaigh and multi-instrumentalist Neil Ó Brian have been captivating audiences all over the country in recent months with sold-out shows in Dún Laoghaire’s Pavilion Theatre along with gigs in The Workman’s Cellar, Róisín Dubh in Galway and most recently a trip to play in London at the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith at the end of the November.

Finishing off the year playing at these special shows in Vicar Street is an absolute honour for the group. Their set will include a mix of material from IMLÉ’s first two albums, Róisín Seoighe’s solo music and new music the group have been working on for their new EP which is due out in the New Year.

2024 has been a busy year for the group with new singles Sláinte, Peacach (acoustic), Cathain?, Mise and most recently As Do Cheo.

As Do Cheo is the latest collaboration between Róisín Seoighe and IMLÉ, the track was produced by long-time IMLÉ producer Karl Odlum. Musically the song is influenced by early 90s indie and trip-hop sounds.

Addressing the lyrical content of the song Róisín Seoighe says:

AS DO CHEO’ is a song about the relief that comes from escaping a relationship that made you once feel confined or disorientated in life. The song explores the ways in which such relationships can affect people’s thoughts and intentions. I think the Ceo or the Fog is an interesting image, it’s an image that’s used in the song as a symbol of the lack of understanding, the lack of freedom or the lack of relief that we all encounter in certain relationships that we experience throughout our lives.

The Vicar Street shows with Damien Dempsey will be IMLÉ’s last gigs of the year. Their new EP will be launched in early 2025 and details of the launch gig will be announced very soon.
