Sam Clifford is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Ireland. He began playing music from a very young age and has been writing his own songs since the age of 14. Throughout his teenage years, he was a familiar face busking on Grafton Street in Dublin. It is here that Sam fully immersed himself within the music scene across Dublin. Busking allowed him to develop his performance technique and being surrounded by a friendship circle of other musicians enhanced his songwriting skills over time.
Sam has performed in many venues across Europe and has already grown a small fan base. In recent months, he begun to work with a backing band which he formed himself, however he has not yet had the opportunity to debut a full band performance. He does however, hope to stage his own debut headline show in one of Dublin’s many amazing venues very soon.
One significant milestone that Sam has previously hit was being given the opportunity to perform in the 3arena in 2019 alongside country music legend Keith Urban. Keith had spotted a young Sam performing on Grafton street earlier that day and invited him to join him for a song during his headline set that night.
From that moment Sam got the fire in his belly to pursue music full time having being given a taste of what could come again in the future.
He released his first single in November of 2021 but took a small break from releasing after that in order to fully perfect his craft and figure out his sound. He appeared again in July of this year with his next single called “Lost In A City” and following the success of this, he has decided to release his favourite work to date, “Forever”.
In 2021 he took part in the Hot Press young and emerging series which involved a take-over of the hot press social media, he did a livestream where he showcased some of the music he had been working on at the time and received a very kind review of the performance afterwards.
Forever is a song that was written about the desire to plan for the future with a partner. The song expresses the love that one may have for their significant other and the positive effect that they have had on their life overall. It also discusses the overwhelming emotions that come with being in love for the first time and how amazing it could be that you could spend the rest of your life with that person and build a life between you both.
The song was recorded and produced in May of 2024 in jejune recording studios in Drogheda with the amazing producer Daniel de Burca. It features all live recorded instruments and overdubbed guitars to create that big sound.
Forever takes influence from a broad range of sources across many different genres, from rock and roll stars like Oasis and the Beatles to indie rock artists like inhaler and Sam Fender.
