‘Hourglass’ is the latest dreamy single from Leah Rose
Leah Rose shares her new single ‘Hourglass‘ today, November 14th.
In keeping with the alt-pop artist’s signature style, ‘Hourglass’ is a moody, atmospheric and dreamy single that explores themes such as the passage of time, escapism and indecision. The sensation of pressure “rising” and “falling” is expressed in both the vocal performance and the sonic textures of the synth-pop driven track.
“This song is about finding clarity and regaining a sense of control. It’s that moment of epiphany when you shift from indecision towards certainty, and the euphoric relief and sense of freedom that follows”.
Inspired by artists such as The Weeknd and Lorde, ‘Hourglass’ was written and recorded in London with frequent collaborator Edward O’Mahony and mastered by Fergal Davis.
Leah released her debut single ‘Goodnight’ in May 2021, the first release from the EP ‘The Sun, The Moon, The Stars’, featuring follow-up singles ‘Dangerous Pink’ and ‘Everything’. Continuing to showcase her all-encompassing approach to music Leah released her Arts Council-funded music video for the single ‘Everything’. In 2024, the independent artist returned with synth-pop singles ‘Forest Wine’, ‘Emeralds’ (for which a live music video was also released) and ‘The Sting Of Rain’.
These releases saw Leah Rose gain support from Hotpress, The Last Mixed Tape, Golden Plec, TILT with John Barker, Today FM, 98fm, 2XM, Red FM, Cork’s 96fm, WLR and KCLR.
“[The Sting Of Rain] does have that noir pop feel, that kind of rain-soaked neon” The Last Mixed Tape
“Leah Rose has dropped yet another ethereal single ‘Forest Wine’…. The perfect track to blast on your summer late-night drives” HotPress
“Emeralds is the sonic equivalent of a cheeky drunk cig – delectable and dark” HotPress
About Leah Rose:
Leah Rose is a Cork-born artist based in Dublin. Having been a songwriter and performer for some years in the Dublin music scene, Leah took time to hone her craft and harness her own distinct dark and dreamy pop sound.
Leah finds inspiration in lyricists such as Alex Turner and Lana Del Rey and enjoys approaching her songwriting through a cinematic lens, allowing the use of strong imagery and colour to play a major role in the music she writes. Leah strives to create art not only through music but through her artwork, photography and overall visual aesthetic.
“I see my songwriting style as atmospheric and somewhat abstract. I love being able to use music as a tool to materialise the things I see in my mind. So when I write a song I try to place the listener right in the centre of my memories and daydreams”.
