His Father’s Voice set to release Debut Album ‘Black Poison Morning’ this Friday September 6th

September 3, 2024

“This is dark post-punk music-to-dance-to… Catchiness is prioritised above stereotypical post-punk moodiness…” – Hot Press

“There’s a blissful transcendence to their music that, amidst the trend of guitar-dominated Irish exports, comes as a welcome change” – The Thin Air

His Father’s Voice deliver a brooding yet purposeful sound with soaring pop melodies, muscular rhythms, and immersive guitars. The band comprise singer/guitarist Ash O’Connor, lead guitarist James Reidy, and rhythm section of Laya Meabhdh Kenny on bass and Cian McGuirk on drums.

The band note “The album title was inspired by a quote from Kevin Barry’s short story ‘Across the Rooftops’. The story sits in hesitance and awkwardness, delivered with such familiar phrasing within such a familiar setting to that of our own. For us, this totally resonated with the challenges the album grapples with and tries to grow and learn from.”

It was recorded and mixed by Micheál Keating and co-produced by Micheál and the band in The Den, Co. Limerick. Mastered by Dan Coutant. Artwork Laya Meabhdh Kenny and Hugh Heffernan. Available on streaming services and as gatefold sleeve, vinyl LP via the Blowtorch Records online store.
