Irish singer-songwriter Harry Hudson Taylor has released his latest single, ‘What Do You Take Me For‘, offering another intimate glimpse into the songwriting that has defined his solo career.
Following the success of his debut EP More Than Enough, the new track arrives as the latest preview of his forthcoming EP Hiding From Nature, due later this year.
Best known as one half of Hudson Taylor, Harry spent over a decade building an international following, amassing more than 30 million Spotify streams, achieving a Number One album in Ireland, and sharing stages with artists including The Rolling Stones and Hozier.
Since embarking on his solo career in 2022, he has embraced a more personal and expansive creative direction, drawing from indie pop, alternative rock and folk to write songs rooted in honesty, self reflection and personal transformation.
Entirely self-produced in his home studio, ‘What Do You Take Me For’ reflects Harry’s hands-on approach to recording and collaboration. After developing the track at home, he enlisted drummer Shay Sweeney before sending the song to Paul Carr for mixing. The song was co-written with Seraphina Taylor and she also features on backing vocals, her voice has become a defining feature of Harry’s recent solo work and who also appears throughout Hiding From Nature.
Speaking about his creative process, Harry says:
“This song is about how manipulated modern life can feel, the algorithms, the tribalism, the sense that everyone’s being sorted into a side. I wrote it while trying every coping mechanism I had, addictions, fasting, meditating, medicating, just to stay standing in the middle of it. ‘What Do You Take Me For’ is the question I kept asking the system, and myself. “
Harry’s solo releases have earned support from RTÉ Entertainment, Hot Press, Atwood Magazine, CULTR, EARMILK, Fame Magazine, Pure M Magazine, Jammerzine, The Other Side Reviews, The Beat and Rotate Magazine, establishing him as one of Ireland’s most compelling independent songwriters. Fans of Beck, Bright Eyes, Kurt Vile, George Harrison, Villagers and Wilco will recognise the same balance of thoughtful lyricism, understated production and timeless songwriting.
To coincide with the release, Harry has also announced a headline Irish tour for October 2026. Performing songs from both More Than Enough and Hiding From Nature, the run of intimate shows will give audiences the opportunity to experience the new material in its natural setting. Joining Harry throughout the tour will be Seraphina Taylor, whose backing vocals and multi-instrumental performances add warmth, atmosphere and depth to the live show.
