Your Roots Are Showing, Ireland’s folk and traditional music conference, announces that distinguished artist Rhiannon Giddens will be the keynote speaker for 2025’s event, and the headliner for their first annual FOLK iN FUSION concert. The concert, which takes place on the 14th of January in the Gleneagle INEC Arena, will launch the conference, which will run from January 15th to 19th at The Gleneagle Hotel, Co.Kerry.

Rhiannon Giddens has crafted an extraordinary career by blending historical roots with contemporary folk music, which has earned her two GRAMMY Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and a MacArthur “Genius” Grant. Known for her dedication to highlighting overlooked contributions in American music history, Giddens has become a pivotal figure in advocating for a comprehensive understanding of the country’s musical origins through her art.

Giddens’ latest album, “You’re The One”, showcases her versatility, featuring an array of musical styles from blues and jazz to Cajun and country. The album, produced by Jack Splash, reflects her unique ability to weave various American music genres into a cohesive and engaging sound.

About Giddens joining the concert and conference’s extensive lineup, co-founders Brendan McCreanor and Charlene Sloan said: “We are honored to have Rhiannon Giddens join us as our keynote speaker. Her work resonates deeply with our mission of celebrating and preserving the rich traditions of folk music.”

Giddens, who is now based in County Limerick, will also headline the highly anticipated FOLK iN FUSION concert, which aims to celebrate both tradition and innovation in folk and roots music. The concert will take place on the 14th of January in the Gleneagle INEC Arena, with doors at 7pm. Joining her will be Liam Ó Maonlaí, the powerful voice behind Hothouse Flowers, whose music has become a cornerstone of Irish culture.

Other FOLK iN FUSION headliner include Bluegrass Hall of Famer Peter Rowan, Grammy-award winning banjo player Ron Block from Alison Krauss & Union Station,  Thomas Gabriel, who carries on the legacy of his grandfather, Johnny Cash, Sandy Kelly, Ireland’s own first lady of country music and rising Nashville star Kenny Sharp.

Brendan McCreanor, with his innovative approach to the uilleann pipes, and Gerry O’Connor, world renowned fiddle player with a deep respect for tradition, will also showcase the rich sounds of Ireland.
