Genre-blending Irish songwriter Caroline Reel returns with a jiving, joy-filled tune for the dancefloor “I Had a Little Drink”

May 14, 2025

Singer-songwriter Caroline Reel, hailing from Silverbridge, South Armagh, is back with a toe-tapping new single “I Had a Little Drink”, set for release on Friday, 16th May 2025. Known for her unmistakable funky country style—where country vocals meet hints of folk, rock, blues and even reggae—Caroline’s genre-crossing sound never fails to surprise and delight.

This new track is a proper jiving number guaranteed to get listeners on their feet. Infectiously upbeat and filled with the spirit of “ceol agus craic,” it’s more than just a song—it’s a celebration of friendship, jam sessions, and nights filled with music and laughter.

“Daphne and Eddie are long-time friends of mine who jammed this tune with me many times over the years in Navan. It became our own little anthem. This song is an ode to all those great nights of music, memories and mighty friendships.”

Recorded while visiting her friends’ new home in Spain, “I Had a Little Drink” was brought to life at Senetti Sound Studios, where Eddie Mann (a multi-instrumentalist and producer) played all the instruments, recorded, produced and mastered the track.

“Eddie has truly captured the essence of the song. I’m absolutely ecstatic with what he’s created.”

This is Caroline’s third single in recent times, following “My Old Man” (recorded in Nashville) and “I Want You to Tell Me.” Her debut album “The Waters of Life” (2019) and earlier EP “Standing Still Feeling Free” (2012) marked her as a powerful voice in the Irish singer-songwriter scene.

🎤 Caroline regularly performs in intimate settings across Ireland, including The Spirit Store and Toales Music Venue in Dundalk, and she has taken her music to the Netherlands with gigs in Amsterdam and Haarlem.
