IMRO members Florence Road has made Irish radio history, with their breakout single ‘Hanging Out to Dry’ reaching #1 on the Irish Airplay Chart and becoming the most-played track on Irish radio.
The landmark achievement makes the Wicklow four-piece the first all-female Irish band to top the Irish Airplay Chart since Radiomonitor records began in 2012. They are also only the second Irish female act to reach #1 during that period. It marks another extraordinary milestone in what is fast becoming a defining year for Florence Road, further cementing their status as one of the most exciting new bands to emerge from Ireland in recent years.

Following a whirlwind summer of major international festivals and stadium support slots, Florence Road will bring their momentum home with a performance at Electric Picnic on Sunday, 30th August.
The band’s live rise has been impossible to ignore. In May, Florence Road played their biggest Irish headline show to date at a completely sold-out 3Olympia, captured in the official live video for ‘Hanging Out to Dry (Dublin Version)’ by acclaimed Irish production company Tiny Ark and director Ais Brady.
Since then, they have taken their explosive live show across Europe and beyond, with festival appearances including Primavera Sound and Rock Werchter, alongside major Irish support dates with Addison Rae, Two Door Cinema Club and Kings of Leon. The band will next play Summer Sonic in Japan, Reading & Leeds and Rock en Seine, ahead of their highly anticipated homecoming at Electric Picnic.
Florence Road’s achievement is a powerful moment for female musicians in Ireland, significantly increasing female representation on Irish radio over the past 12 months. As the first all-female Irish band to reach #1 on the Irish Airplay Chart, their success underlines the talent, impact and commercial strength of women in Irish music.
