Known for his evocative lyrics and powerful storytelling Flexx Carter has carved out a niche in the rap world by drawing from his own life experiences to create music that resonates deeply with his audience. The Waterford based rapper has announced the release of his debut EP ‘The Strangest Life I’ve Ever Known’ later this spring with the release of lead single ‘No Discussion’ out February 7, 2025.
Flexx Carter delivers a heartfelt and introspective track with ‘No Discussion’, a song exploring the complexities of a relationship that has run its course. Flexx’s raw lyricism captures his internal struggle, expressing frustration and resignation as he confronts the reality that it’s time to move on with lyrics like “not to offend but I think we were better as friends” and opening the song with “behind it all, feels like you were never really mine at all”. The song’s emotional weight is amplified by Dublin-based artist Joe Butler, whose smooth and soulful vocals on the chorus provide a striking contrast to Flexx’s gritty verses. Together, they create a powerful dynamic, blending vulnerability and conviction in a way that resonates deeply.
Of the new single Flexx says, “I think everybody has experienced something like ‘No Discussion’. My EP is called ‘The Strangest Life I’ve Ever Known’ for a reason, it is that. This part of the EP is about relationships, because they can be some of the strangest things we experience. I know people feel how I felt when I was recording this track. It was like therapy for me to write and record it, and I think it will be therapy for people to listen to it as well. I think it will resonate in some way with everybody.”
Flexx’s release, ‘Datenight’ featuring Chris Kabs received rave reviews across the Irish music scene and has been featured on RTE’s ‘Behind the Music’, Hot Press magazine and Today FM’s Top 5 ‘All Irish’ artists. It also received national airplay on WLRFM, Beat 102-103, Open Tempo FM, Red FM, Today FM and RTE 2FM. Flexx Carter followed up the commercial success of ‘Datenight’, with the emotionally charged ‘Take Care’ featuring the soulful tones of Ellen Quility.
Flexx Carter’s journey has been marked by personal trials and triumphs, all of which he channels into his art to inspire and uplift a new generation of listeners. Flexx takes his inspiration from both old skool hip-hop and modern genre-bending artists such as Mac Miller and Tyler The Creator. His debut single ‘When I See The Water’ evoked feelings of summer vacations, fun and friendships. Exclusively recorded in Darklands Studio Dublin, his following releases ‘Freedom’, ‘The Future Never Happened’, ‘Intentions’ and ‘Who’s Flexx’ complete his first project “The Freedom Tapes” and demonstrate Flexx’s lyrical abilities and intricate writing style.
