Cork, (Ireland) based artist – Fintan McKahey is set to release his new single, “Higher Place” on April 11th, an emotive track that blends hypnotic melodies with raw, introspective lyricism.

The song features fellow Cork musicians – Eoin Barclay on drums & Kealan Kenny on slide guitar, creating the perfect backdrop for Fintan’s smooth & articulated vocal performance. While staying true to McKahey’s signature hazy sound, this track leans more towards Americana & folk rock.

“Higher Place” fuses ethereal soundscapes with a rhythmic pulse, reflecting the tension between escapism and reality. From the very first line, “We could take it to a higher place / We could sit and watch the fire take / All the memories that I’ve erased”, Higher Place sets the tone for a song that’s both reflective and anthemic. It’s about burning away old baggage, embracing the unknown, and riding the highs and lows of self-discovery.

Fintan McKahey is a lo-fi indie singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Cork, Ireland. Known for his spacey, chill, and psychedelic sound, his EPs and singles have earned national radio play and critical acclaim. He has headlined major venues across the country, but his true passion lies in the studio, where he crafts immersive and atmospheric music.

In recent years, Fintan took a step back from the spotlight to embrace fatherhood, a transformative experience that reshaped his approach to both life and music. Navigating the delicate balance between parenthood and songwriting—finding inspiration in quiet moments and late-night studio sessions. Having bought a rural property in West Cork, relocated ‘Ivy Hill Studios’ & built a house, he is making a highly anticipated return with new music set for release in 2025. His time away has deepened his artistry, bringing fresh perspectives to his songwriting and production.
