‘A song about ‘the demons’, and the frustration and pain of watching someone close to you seemingly choose them. I wrote this a few years ago, working with Simon Johnson in the UK on all the guitar work. I often have to sing and describe what I’m aiming for, ie. ‘bendy notes’: always a joyous experience! I’ve been building up the track for a while now, eventually adding more synths: the haunting strings, ethereal swirls, trying to get a more manic sound into the song. And, as the song reaches a crescendo – where angels meet madness – adding layer upon layer of backing vocals, here in my Co. Wicklow Studio.’
