Cabin returns with his newest single, ‘Grind’, a driving, garage-rock laden tune, filled to the brim with scorching guitars, gnarled bass, and direct, forceful drums, glittered with tasteful lead lines. All topped with his most immediate and sharp vocal performance yet, taking aim at the Culture of Work that consumes and burns out all those under it.
Cabin takes his typical production and arrangement style and rips it down to the bare essentials, while still maintaining a sense of depth and fullness that peaks in an all-encompassing wave of fuzz.
On the track, Cabin says; “This was a song born out of frustration and exhaustion from the insidious idea that respite is the enemy, that we all must constantly grind it out, just to stay afloat. The track is an expression of burning down that which burns you out.”
Cabin began crafting his songwriting and production skills as part of post-punk outfit Brass Phantoms. He launched Cabin in 2021, with a collection of songs written, recorded and mixed completely independently, and has had his music featured on the likes of BBC Radio 6 with Steve Lamacq, Spotify’s Hot New Bands, Clash Magazine, Hot Press, The Last Mixed Tape, Golden Plec and more.
In producing, writing, recording, and mixing his work, Cabin offers a singular artistic voice that makes way for unique and distinctive compositions. Drawing influence from the classic songwriters of popular music, his psychedelic sound is glittered with the palpable tension of Post-Punk and Alternative Rock, the exuberant tenderness of Soul, and the reverent reflection of Folk music.
His focus is for his music and lyrics to imbue the aspects of modern-day disillusionment and existential dread with a defiant sense of radical optimism and to try to see the colour through the grey.
