Dublin Singer Brian Brody has joined forces with Spanish punk rock band Ruxe Ruxe to release a song dedicated to Pogues legend Shane MacGowan.

The new single, which is off Ruxe Ruxe’s highly anticipated album, is the first song the band have ever released in English so they hope it will reach a wider audience and tell the world of their love and respect for MacGowan’s legacy.

MacGowan’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke got to hear the new single, gave it a big thumbs up and said she ‘loves it’.

‘The single is a nice way to remember MacGowan, who passed away on November 30, 2023’, singer Brian Brody said.

And he hopes the song gets people singing, just like MacGowan’s Fairytale of New York has since it hit the charts in 1988.

Brody said he loved teaming up with Ruxe Ruxe for this very special song: “Hailing from Santiago de Compostela, Ruxe Ruxe are one of the biggest, if not the biggest punk rock bands in Galicia, Spain. They wrote a song to honour their Hero Shane MacGown but they wanted it sung in English so they approached me and I jumped at the chance. Ruxe Ruxe sent me the song which had been sung in Galician and another version without vocals so I could work away in my studio and try and develop it in English.  When I sent it back to them they absolutely loved what I had done with it so it was decided we should release it.”

Brody added: “We decided we wanted Shane’s wife Victoria to hear it before its release. We were delighted when she contacted us to say she loved it. It was a huge honour to know she gave it the thumbs up. After all, Shane was one of the country’s best songwriters of all time.”

The Video was shot in Santiago de Compostela by award winning Music Video maker Alberto Lora.
