Dublin-based singer-songwriter Galia Arad unveils her new single ‘This Close’ released on June 4th, via emerging Irish artist development label Rubarb Music.

Self-penned and self-produced, ‘This Close’ is moody, hypnotic, and laced with intimacy. Driven by subtly dangerous guitar grooves and an irresistibly hooky chorus, the song blends Galia’s Americana songwriting roots with a cool, contemporary alt-pop. Galia as always delivers a vocal performance that’s stylish, sophisticated and effortless.

Galia Explains: “‘This Close’ explores the tension between craving and control—using vulnerability as a tool to capture after an endless game of chase,” Galia explains. “The production is inspired by that push/pull, and of course my own desires to kick off my pop girlie era.”

Born in Bloomington, Indiana, Galia spent years in NYC before relocating to Dublin, where she began working with Shane MacGowan on several earlier releases. Her critically acclaimed live shows have earned her a regular slot supporting Jools Holland across the UK and Europe, with performances at GlastonburyRoyal Albert HallKew Gardens3Arena, and National Concert Hall Dublin.

Beyond the stage, Galia is committed to using music for social impact. She works at Oberstown Juvenile Detention Centre,  engaging young offenders through creativity, music and songwriting as a means of rehabilitation. This experience inspired her to score filmmaker Kim Bartley’s short film Stray, which premiered at Dublin International Film Festival 2025.
